Does Starbucks have real fruit smoothies?

A resounding YES. Fruit purée is used for most of these, making them low calorie, refreshing and packed with vitamins and flavour. Starbucks maintain high quality standards, so let’s go through Starbucks smoothies one by one to get a better picture of what they’re made with and most importantly how they taste.

How much are Starbucks smoothies?

They’re quite affordable, no more expensive than their typical cappuccino or latte, and smoothie prices range from $3.75 to $5.95

Starbucks smoothies

Here’s a list of the best Starbucks smoothies (IMHO) that are all worth trying.

Strawberry smoothie

If you’ve tried Starbucks Strawberry and Crème Frappuccino, chances are you’ll love their strawberry smoothie. It’s a thirst-quencher with strawberries, a whole banana and two protein scoops. You can always go for the milk of your preference whether oat, full fat or skimmed milk. And the best bit is that you can add different fruits or extra strawberries to make it fruitier.

Orange mango smoothie

The Orange mango smoothie is similar to strawberry (orange and mango purée with two protein scoops and the milk of your choice with crushed ice. The acidic orange works so well with the sweetness of mango, making it a moreish drink. There are more mango drinks at Starbucks.

Berry vanilla smoothie

This drink is a great combo, something between a Frappuccino and smoothie and YES it tastes amazing. Berries, vanilla and coconut milk, a whole banana are blended together; they add vanilla syrup as a final touch to create an unforgettable beverage. If you’re into Starbucks coconut drinks check the list.

Chocolate smoothie

This is probably the most popular Starbucks smoothie and one of the most popular drinks on their menu and as you can imagine is a guilty delight made with mocha syrup, banana, protein and crushed ice. Caffeine freaks can always add an espresso shot that is always brilliant with chocolate.

Pumpkin smoothie

Are you a big pumpkin fan? You should give a pumpkin smoothie a go; it has a very subtle yet distinct sweetness that elevates it above others. The recipe is almost the same as the previous smoothies, two scoops of protein powder, a whole banana, milk and about six decadent pumps of Starbucks pumpkin syrup. If you fall in love with Starbucks pumpkin syrup (many do), you can try making your own by following this recipe.

Cinnamon Dolce smoothie

If you’re adventurous this is a great drink for you; it’s unusual yet its velvety smoothness is really seductive. Plus, it’s also healthier than 340 calories depending on your choice of milk. Still not convinced?

Here’s one more reason:

This heavenly drink isn’t on the menu. Starbucks fanatics know they can order it by asking for a chocolate smoothie and replacing the mocha syrup with cinnamon dolce topping. And as a finishing touch ask for two to three scoops of vanilla powder and you’re good to go.

Berry Forest smoothie

Did you know that Starbucks offers a secret menu?

And one of their magic secret drinks is Berry Forest smoothie; you might have to whisper the below order to the barista:

The Strawberry Créme Frappuccino is the base of the drink and then the barista pours passion tea in place of the milk. Did you know that you can get a frappuccino at Starbucks without coffee?

Next, request a small amount of raspberry syrup and any freeze-dried berries and you’re done – don’t be surprised if strangers ask you what you’re having…

Very Berry-licious smoothie

I kept the best for last, four scoops of frozen berries, three slices of orange, strawberry juice and whipped cream on top makes this drink a real crowd pleaser. You should try it, it tastes as good as it looks.

FAQ about Starbucks smoothies

Do you have more questions about smoothies at Starbucks? We’ve got you covered with this practical section where we go over frequent questions.

Does Starbucks have strawberry smoothies?

How can Strawberry smoothie be off the menu? They do have strawberry smoothies and it’s no coincidence that it’s one of the most popular Starbucks smoothies.

How to order a smoothie at starbucks?

The cool thing at Starbucks is that you can always customise the drink and ask for milk to your preference, add extra sugar, add toppings like whipped cream, espresso shots to make your drink taste like coffee and ask for extra fruit pure to make it healthier and flavoursome.

But most of them will cost you a couple of more dollars.

Are starbuck’s smoothies healthy?

The answer is that some are healthier than others. For example, the Chocolate smoothie, although it’s a true indulgence, is probably not healthy. But the other ones that contain protein scoop and fruit pure are pretty healthy. You get protein in a powder form plus all the fruits are rich with vitamins and nutrients.

Are Starbucks protein shakes healthy?

Actually, each scoop of the protein powder that Starbucks uses has roughly 1g of fibre (so, 2g per smoothie in addition to the fibre in the banana and fruit purées). Since whey is used to make this powder, some dairy is present.

While you can omit the milk from the smoothie recipes, you would also need to omit the protein powder for a totally dairy-free version.

Any beverage can be made with protein powder from Starbucks. In fact, many of my regular customers add it to their lattes because of its health advantages.

Although it isn’t as powerful as other protein substitutes I’ve tried, I’d say it takes some getting used to.
